Abstract (EN)
Renal cell carcinoma is the most common malign lesion, diagnosed in kidney. Malign tumors and approximately 2-3% of tumor caused deaths is consisted by renal malign tumors. It is on the third place after prostate and bladder carcinoma as regard to urogenital cancers diagnosis rate. Man to woman diagnosis ratio is approximately 3/2. Fuhrman nuclear grading system which plays an independent predictor role in prognosis has become the most widely used system for renal cell carcinoma. From the point of survivals, patients divided into groups as good prognosis (degree 1), bad prognosis (degree 4) and between this two degradation, one prognosis (degree 2 and 3). Todays, magnetic resonance imaging is the only technique to evaluate in vivo molecular diffusion process. In this study, the relationship between Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) values and Fuhrman nuclear grading were evaluated. ADC values, whether contributes to prognosis diagnosis before operation or not, were investigated. In this study, 30 renal cell carcinoma diagnosed patients who have diffusion weighted magnetic resonance images which are obtained with preoperative b 1000 gradient values were evaluated, in the pathology department in our hospital. Measurements made via ADC maps. Totally, 9 of matures classified as degree 1, 11 of them classified as degree 2 and also 10 of them classified as degree 3. Based on nuclear degrees, average ADC values for degree 1-3, measured as 1,68 ± 0,64x10-3 sec/mm2, 1,16 ± 0,20x10-3 sec/mm2 and 1,35 ± 0,45x10-3 sec/mm2, respectively. Once the average ADC values based on nuclear degrees compared with each other, meaningful difference observed in between degree 1 and 2 statistically (p < 0,05). Meaningful differences did not observed between other degrees (p > 0,05). In this study we come to conclusion that, ADC values in graduation of renal cell carcinoma cases is partially beneficial and may provide contribution to preoperative prognosis evaluation.
