Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted to assess the antropometric measurements and nutritional status of 10-13 years old adolescents who are educated via normal and transported education. The research includes 127 (63 male, 64 female) transported education students and 118 (57 male, 61 female) normal education students, in total 245 students who are going to the schools Merkez Sehıt Orhan Yalcın, Cavuslar and 75. Yıl Dogancılar- schools that are bound to the Ministry of National Education. Anthropometric measurements of the adolescents were done, using the 24-hour recall method and questionnaire form, the nutritional status were determined. Frequency, percent, chi-square and t-test analysis of data were computed. In the transported education, male adolescents, when compared to the female ones, are more satisfied with the cleaning of the meals and refectory, and the behaviours of the staff (p<0.05). Although the intake of daily energy, niacin, vitamins A and C, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc is high in males that are from transported education and in females, high in the ones that are from normal education. When compared to the students from transported education, the intake of the vitamins B1, B2 , B6, B12, A, C, E, folat, protein, phosphorus, magnesium, iron and zinc is insufficient in vi the adolescents from the normal education. However, it was detected that, the transported education adolescents are insufficient energy, niacin and calcium.Weight, BMI, mid upper arm circumference, waist circumference, triceps, biceps, subscapular, suprailiac and total skinfold thicknesses are higher in both males and females of the transported aducation than the normal education. According to the BMI, the frequency of obesity was found high in the students of transported education while the frequency of underweight was found high in the students of the normal education. While the transported education affects the nutritional status in male adolescents in a positive way, there was found no difference in the female adolescents. It is necessary that the lunches given to the adolescents in the schools be widespread throughout the country, under the control of the nutrition experts and the needs of the adolescents be taken into account. Keywords: Adolescent, Nutritional Status, Transported Education, Anthropometric Measurements
