Verification and assesment of Kitâb'u Vasfu'l ihtidâ fi'l Vakf ve'l-Ibtidâ Of Burhâneddin İbrâhim b. Ömer el-Ca'berî

With the emergence of Islam, there have been visible changes in people's lives, lifestyles and civilizations. Along with all these visible changes, the intellectual and mental changes in the Islamic world developed in parallel. From the first day until today, Islamic scholars have paid attention to thinking, writing and creating new works. In the absence of the printing press or technological developments, Islamic scholars wrote their works by hand and preserved them. In this study, we thought to bring to light the manuscript work of Abu Ishâq Ibrâhîm b. 'Umar b. Ibrâhîm b. Khalîl al-Ja'berî's "Kitâb al-Wasfu al-ihtidâ fi al-Wakf wa'l-Ibtidâ". Al-Ja'berî wrote works in many branches of science. Many of his works have been annotated and commented on, and many of them have been taught as textbooks for centuries. However, this work of al-Ja'berî in the field of qiraat has not seen the light of day like his other works. In this study, al-Ja'berî's work in which he gives examples on the subject of "waqf-ibtidâ" based on verses is discussed. In our study, this work of the author has been analyzed and partially translated. Our study consists of an introduction and three chapters. In the introduction, the subject, importance, and purpose of our research are discussed, and the method, methodology, and sources we used in the analysis are mentioned. In addition, general information about the copies is shared. In the first chapter, the political, religious, educational and social life of the period in which our author al-Ja'berî lived is examined. al-Ja'berî's teachers, students, scholars who were his contemporaries and their works are briefly mentioned. In the second part, we thought that our copy would contribute to the field by translating the first chapter, which has 12 chapters. In this chapter, the author sets out the general rules of waqf and ibtidâ and enriches the work by using the examples (verses) from the Holy Qur'ân according to a certain order by using the recitations and rhymes of the imams of qiraât. The conclusion includes a general evaluation of the tahkîq and translation. In the third part, the main body of our study, the Trabzon copy and the Spain/El-Curial copy, which we studied, are analyzed.
