History – authenticity relationship in contemporary Uzbek fiction: Ötgen Künler (Abdullah Kadiri ), Nevai (Musa Taşmuhammedoğlu Aybek), Köhne Dünya (Adil Yakubov)

The history and authenticity relationship in the novels Ötgen Künler by Abdullah Kadiri, Nevai by Musa Taşmuhammedoğlu Aybek and Köhne Dünya by Adil Yakubov has been discussed in our study. The aim of the study is to reveal the authenticity level of the novels by comparing the historical events and people in the novels with the historic sources. Historical novel is a literary genre that depicts a well known historical event with its setting and characters. Uzbek novelists Kadiri, Aybek and Yakubov discuss history in their works by showing a critical approach to both history and their own period. In the first section of the study, the terms history, novel and historical novel have been clarified. The definition and the occurrence of historical novel and the characteristics of classical and postmodern historical novel have been revealed in our study. The historical novel has been evaluated by discussing different point of views on historical novel. Afterwards, information has been given about the history of Uzbeks and the development of contemporary Uzbek literature. The biographies of Kadiri, Aybek and Yakubov and the summaries of their novels have been included in the second section of our study. The novels have been studied in terms of plot, characters, time, setting, point of view and tone. The historicity in the novels has been discussed by comparing the historical incidents and people in the books and academic history sources. In the third section of the study, each book has been analyzed comparatively. In the conclusion section, study results have been discussed.
