Abstract (EN)

This study examines the concept of queer, whose name we often hear in society, and its development through art. Although many definitions have been made for the concept of queer, discussions still continue today. Queer is beyond the norm and gives new perspectives, giving a different meaning to behavior, body, gender, discourse and politics. Contemporary Art, which has continued since the 1960s, has dealt with different subjects, one of which is the concept of Queer. It should be seen that the concept of Queer, which we usually see and understand directly and transparently, actually has a place in Abstract Art. Abstract Art, which does not want to give representations directly, seeks a difference in art and is expressed as an escape from society, has been the middle point of queer theory. The study shows how the artists' own identities, orientations and selves meet and exist in contemporary art.
