Looking at our age as a global village, metaverse lives

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the development of art since the day it merged with technology and to make an examination on what technology, which has a great place in the change of the world in terms of art as well as social, and especially the internet age, offers today in artistic terms. One of the important points to be reached in the thesis research is that the concept of Metaverse will have a great impact on the art phenomenon of the future. The metaverse, where many branches such as art history, painting, museology, archaeology, digital art, video art, and conceptual art will find their place, will lead to the establishment of virtual biennials, exhibitions, art streets and even art cities, and it may even lead to a different economic formation. This work; The media theorist Marshall McLuhan discusses the new world tool Metaverse through the phrase "The tool is the message". The impact of Metaverse in terms of art, artist and museology has been considered. While examining the metaverse, virtual museums, galleries, digital art museums, NFT and digital art will be discussed with different examples. The topics covered in the thesis generally consist of five chapters. The History and Practices of Digital Art are discussed in different media (such as photography, sculpture, installation, cinema, net art, conceptual art, software). The emerging products such as virtual reality, NFT and the computer skills that created the concept of the metaverse, how art museums have evolved and today's new museum concept has been scrutinized.
