Abstract (EN)
Nowadays, glass ionomer cements are used as the most common material in pediatric dentistry. Being biocompatible, releasing long-term fluoride, supporting remineralization, showing antibacterial effect, low polymerization shrinkage and less moisture sensitivity than resin-filled restorative materials provide such widespread use of glass ionomer cements. The aim of this in-vitro study is to compare the physical properties of conventional glass ionomer cement, zinc-containing glass ionomer cement and glass hybrid containing glass ionomer cements. For this purpose, surface roughness, water absorption and water solubility, surface microhardness and compressive strength tests were performed. Samples which were kept in distilled water at 37 ° C were measured after 1 day and after 1 week. According to these results; it has been found that zinc and glass hybrid added to strengthen the conventional glass ionomer cements do not completely improve the physical properties of cements. It has been concluded that many more studies are needed to improve the physical properties and therefore the clinical success of glass ionomer cements.
