Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine the digital reading habits of Djiboutian higher education students studying in Çankırı from various perspectives. The study also aims to explore topics such as Djiboutian higher education students' print and digital reading frequency, the types of content they most frequently read in digital environments, and their preferred reading materials and devices. This research is a quantitative study based on the survey model. The study sample consists of 95 Djiboutian higher education students studying at Çankırı Karatekin University during the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. A survey technique was used as the data collection tool. A questionnaire consisting of 19 questions and 24 Likert-type items was applied to the participants, and the data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. The findings reveal that students generally exhibit a low level of digital reading habits. Despite having access to digital tools, the majority still prefer print formats, especially for academic and literary content. A significant portion of students reported having difficulty concentrating when reading from a screen. Digital formats were generally preferred for short texts, while print was often preferred for longer texts. These results indicate that digital reading has not yet been fully integrated into students' academic lives. Furthermore, these results highlight the persistence of traditional reading habits and emphasize the need to encourage a digital reading culture within higher education environments through targeted support and awareness strategies. Based on the findings of the research and the literature, recommendations have been made for practitioners and researchers.
