ABSTRACTMaster ThesisSTRESS ANALYSIS OF MACHINE ELEMENTS COMPOSED OFIZOTROPIC AND ANIZOTROPIC MATERIALS BY USING THE PROGRAMMECATIA V5Avni D LLFirat UniversityGraduate School of Natural and Applied SciencesDepartment of Mechanichal Engineering2006, Pages: 68In this study, stress analysis for a machine element in the form of circular hollowcylinder containing a circumferantial cavity with circular cross section is caried. In the first chapter, after a brief introduction, the problem under consideration isintroduced. In the second and three chapter, general information is given on fracturemechanics and finite element method, and a literature survey is presented, respectively. In the fourth chapter, introductory general information is given on Catia V5 computerprogram. In the fifth chapter, stress analysis for he machine element which is the subjectmatter of this study is carried for several combinations of the parameters defining thegeometry. The study obtains stres distrubutions for various values of the diameter of thecircuferantial cavity and distance between its center and axis of the cylinder. Results arecompared and variations are interpreted. Maximum stress increases as the ratio of thediameter of the circumferantial Cavit to the wall thickness of the hollow cylinder. Keywords: Fracture Mechanics, Catia V5, Stress Analysis, Circumfeerantial Cavity withCircular Cross Section.
