Abstract (EN)
In this research, the geometrical, mechanical, physical, chemical, thermal and disintegration properties of limestones in Çatalca district of Istanbul were studied and their usability as aggregates was examined. Mineralogical and petrographic analyzes and standard aggregate experiments were carried out on the samples taken from the study area on Kırklareli formation and X-ray diffraction patterns were investigated. The Çatalca Region consists of limestones, yellowish gray, massive textures and small granules with irregularly shaped melting cavities. It meets the limit values specified in TS 706 EN 12620 standard in terms of shape index, fine grain content, resistance to fragmentation, grain density, water absorption rate, resistance to freezing and thawing, magnesium sulfate value, drying rate, alkali silica reaction and organic matter content. When the data and analyzes obtained from experiments conducted in accordance with TS EN standards were examined, it has been determined that the Çatalca Region limestones can be used as concrete aggregates.
