Abstract (EN)

Constructions that will be built in the shoreline are very important for having more benefits of the sea and for the environment. Thanks to latest improvements in geographic information sytems it is easier to do location selection analysis of marinas. Firstly it is necessary to gather the data about geology, land use, demography, accesibility ect. when determining locaiton of the marina. Goal of this work is to define the areas that are appropriate to built marinas, with the use of topographic and demographic data in a preset shoreline. Working area is the Marmara shorelines in Istanbul, and the Bosphorus is out of the working area. Within the work, Erosion, Landslide, Tsunami, Landuse, Geologically hazardous areas, Transfer lines amd Sea Traffic data and in neigborhood scale population, age patterns and house income data is used. While overlapping the layers grid analysis method is used. Working area is divided into 50X50 meters cells, and each cell is graded. Analytical hierarchy process method is used to give a weight to each cell. A grading system is developed for area selection of marinas with this methods.
