Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine the effects of adding different rates of walnut green husks to maize (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 2% and 4%) on fermentation properties, silage quality, and aerobic stability. In the study, 20 silage samples, four repetitions from each group, were placed in 1.5-liter glass jars and compressed. Silages were left to ferment for 60 days. In addition, the silages were subjected to an aerobic stability test for five days immediately after opening. The pH values of the supplemented silage groups was determined between 3.77-3.79, and NH3-N values were determined between 6.76%-9.21%. Silages were evaluated as high quality according to the Flieg scoring system. The addition of walnut green husks to maize was reduce total yeast mold density (P=0.000). As a result, it was determined that the addition of walnut green husks to the maize positively affected silage fermentation and reduced total yeast mold formation. As a result of the research, it was determined that using walnut green husks between 0.5% and 4.0% when making maize silage could increase silage quality properties. It was also concluded that the study should be supported by in vivo studies.
