Çift ve aile terapistlerinin terapötik değişim ve ortak faktörler üzerine deneyimleri: Nitel bir çalışma

Psychotherapy researchers often examine how therapeutic change takes place and how effective a particular therapy process is. When the related studies revealed that different therapy models were similarly beneficial, the researchers developed a new model-independent approach to determine which factors lead to therapeutic change. The researchers suggest some factors leading to therapeutic change and common to different therapy models. They claim that what really leads to therapeutic change is these factors, which they call "common factors". The present study investigates therapists' experiences regarding how the common factors unique to couple and family therapy affect therapeutic change. The experiences of 8 couple and family therapists (8 women) were examined through semi-structured interviews and the data collected were analyzed by using thematic analysis method. The research data revealed 9 themes for 4 common factors unique to couple and family therapy: "Getting Over Blaming", "Everyone Taking Responsibility", "Understanding the Impact of Past Relationships", "Getting to Know Each Other", "Recognizing Support and Effort", "Being Able to Communicate", "Therapist Working the Relationship", "Accepting the Differences" and "Comprehending Not Being Judged". The present study discusses research design, findings, literature review, strengths and weaknesses of the study, future research suggestions and implications.
