Abstract (EN)
In furniture production, having a quality surface of wood and wood-like products especially after processing is a desired feature both during and after production. In furniture and woodworking sector, surface quality is considered as the most important factor determining quality. One of the most important factors determining the surface smoothness in the processing of wood material is the processing technique. In this study, the effects of CNC machining parameters on the surface quality of samples prepared from Eastern beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) and Anatolian chestnut (Castenia sativa Mill), which are frequently used in the sector, were examined. Determining the most suitable processing parameters has been determined as the priority target. 3 different speeds (8000, 12000, 16000 rpm), 3 different feed rates (1000, 1500, 2000 mm / min), two different cutter and two different processing layers (3 and 4) were used in the machining experiments. In order to evaluate the machining performance, Ra and Rz roughness results were determined as the evaluation criteria. The lowest average roughness (Ra) value in beech samples for measurements perpendicular to the fibers on the ground surface was obtained at a feed rate of 1000 mm / min at 16000 rpm in 3-layer machining and 2,838 µm in cutter type 1, the lowest value on the side surfaces 1,841 µm in the same type 2 cutter. In general, when the results are evaluated,it has been seen that surface roughness increased as the machining depth increased. When the increase in the cutting speed shows an improvement in the roughness value up to a certain point, further increase has created rough surface. As the cutter feedrate increased, the roughness showed an increase linearly. When the number of cutting edges increases, a decrease has been seen in the roughness values of the machined surfaces.
