Abstract (EN)
In this study, that the effect of Co:B rates on synthesis of cobalt borate compound in aqueous solution medium by using borax pentahydride and cobalt chloride as raw material was investigated. Cobalt chloride and borax pentahydride precursor solutions were prepared with Co:B rates 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, 1:7, 1:8, 1:10, 1:12; reactions were repeated without changeing any other parameter. Aqueous solutions mixed together at 420 rpm stirring rate and 30 °C. Suspension arised after reaction was filtrated; in solid state, purple coloured precipitate was obtained. Samples were dried in drying and heat-treated at 850 °C for 7 hours. Cobalt borate samples were characterized with XRD, FTIR and TG-DTA analysis. In investigation of sample synthesized as Co:B rate 1:2, beside Co2B2O5 phase, sodium and cobalt containing oxide compounds formation was observed. Generally, Co2B2O5 and CoB4O7 phases were attained together after reactions occured in varying rates between 1:2 and 1:10. As a result of experiment performed with Co:B rate as 1:10, it was determined that only Co2B2O5 phase was obtained. In case of boron rate in precursor solution was increased further, Co3B2O6 phase was arised beside Co2B2O5 phase. Keywords: Cobalt borate, Borate, Co/B rate, XRD.
