Comparison of tgmd-2 and ktk tests used in measuring children's motor skill

Aim: It is aimed to compare the TGMD-2 and KTK tests used to measure motor skills of children. Materials and Methods: A total of 547 healthy children aged 5to10 years participated in the study. Test of Gross Motor Development-2nd (TGMD-2) and Körperkoordinationstest Für Kinder (KTK) motor development tests are applied to measure the motor development levels of children whose anthropometric measurements are made first. IBM SPSS 21 package program is used for statistical evaluation of the data. Finding: The TGMD-2 and KTK scores are converted as percentages according to the highest score obtained by the children participating in the study, and the TGMD-2 and KTK percentage distribution results for each age group within the groups are included in the study. According to these results, when the TGMD-2 scores are examined, it is determined that 57.22% of the children are in the low group and 42.78% of the children are in the developable group.When the KTK scores are examined, it is determined that 0.91% of the children are in the low group, 9.51% of them are in the developable group, and 89.58% of them are in the advanced group (p<0,05).When the TGMD-2 total scores of children are examined, there are statistically significant differences between gender and age groups(p<0,05). TGMD-2 total scores are determined to be higher in males. When the children's KTK (Walking backward) scores are examined, there is a statistically significant difference between gender and age groups (p<0,05). It is determined that girls have higher KTK (Walking backward)scores than boys.When the overall total scores of children's KTK are examined, there are statistically significant differences between gender and age groups (p<0,05).It is determined that girls' KTK scores are higher than boys. Conclusion: As a result of the study, it is determined that the TGMD-2 and KTK tests measure different aspects of movement competence in children.
