Abstract (EN)
The development of countries is directly related to their education and research opportunities. Since universities are both education and research institutions, they have many significant level of importance for development. It is known that some of our universities especilly in the Eastern and South Eastern Anatolia have some problems. Reason for this can ce attributed, social, cultural and economic problems of these regions and, these problems are also effective in the higher education. In this study, applied Factor analysis, and 20 Likert type questions were stated as 5 factors. Here, 6 questions on education was described under the name "education" as the first factor. Seven questions were grouped under the name "Teaching". The third factor, was determined as "City" factor that involved cleanliness, air pollution and condition of transportation of a city. For 3 questions on the courses, the fourth factor was grouped as the "Course" factor. The fifth factor was categorized as "Satisfaction" because it included the satisfaction of students both in their own departments, and their education from the country. Due to the normality assumption required for the discriminative analysis applied according to the Likert type questions that include the views of students concerning education, teaching, course, school satisfaction and city, the type of points in which they entered university, accommodation, and transport, an additional multinomial Regression Analysis was also applied as it had no provision for assumption. As a result of these analyses; In terms of point type of the students for entering university, it was found that the students which were started the university through verbal score stated negative opinions mostly about air pollution of Iğdır and their courses. In terms of accommodation of the students, most of the students which are staying in the dormitories expressed negative opinions about the active participation of the students to the courses and other education issues. In terms of transportation type of the students, the students which go to school by walking had negative opinions mostly about air pollution of Iğdır and education issues. Actually, the students which go to school by walking are studying at Faculty of Theology and Vocational School of Health Sciences because these schools are not located in the University Campus, they located in the city center. Thus, the air pollution is a serious problem experienced in the city center. Key Words: Factor Analysis, Discriminant Analysis, demographic, University Students, student satisfaction.
