Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTTHE COMPARISON OF TWO DIFFERENT TREATMENTMETHODS FOR COLLES FRACTURESDistal radial fractures, much seen especially in elderly, are the fractures that aremuch come into prominence due to prolonged patient life span and their risenexpectations. There is an increase in surgical treatment of these fractures that weregenerally treated conservatively in the past, by the help of technologicaldevelopment.Between 2003-2006, 33 patients with 33 Colles fractures who are able to befollowed in C.B.Ü.T.F. Orthopaedics and Travmatology clinic, treated with closedreduction and cast immobilization versus Kapandji method, and radiological andclinical results have been evaluated. In 14 patients treated with Kapandji method, we achieved % 85,7 good-perfectresults and in 19 patients treated with closed reduction and cast immobilization, weachieved % 97,7 good-perfect results. In our study the mean following time was 14months and we could not find statistically significant difference between the two typesof treatment method. In radiological assessment, we decided that the palmar inclination angle wasmuch better in Kapandji group than the closed reduction and cast immobilizationgroup. We found no significant difference between two groups in according to theradial lenght and radial inclination angle.
