Abstract (EN)
Periodontal diseases; They are diseases characterized by inflammatory cell accumulation, connective tissue and alveolar bone destruction, in which the primary etiological factor is microbial dental plaque. Celiac disease is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease in which genetic, immunological and environmental factors play a role in the pathogenesis of the gastrointestinal system. Although there are similarities in the common immunopathogenesis of both diseases, an increase in serum cytokine levels such as TNF-α and IL-6 was also detected. The aim of this study was to compare serum and gingival groove fluid TNF-α and IL-6 levels in both celiac patients and systemically healthy individuals with periodontitis and periodontal health. This study was conducted on 42 healthy individuals (21 healthy periodontally, 21 individuals diagnosed with periodontitis) who applied to Gaziantep University, Faculty of Dentistry, Periodontology Department to have their routine periodontal controls done; It was performed on 42 individuals with celiac disease referred for periodontal examination from Gaziantep University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Gastroenterology (21 individuals diagnosed as periodontally healthy after periodontal evaluation, 21 individuals diagnosed with chronic periodontitis). In the results of our study, although serum and DOS TNF-α values were higher in the CS group than in the SS group, no statistically significant difference was detected. Serum, DOS TNF-α, IL-6 values were found to be statistically significantly higher in the CP group than in the SS group and in the CP group compared to the CS group (p<0.001). Serum, DOS TNF-α and DOS IL-6 values were found to be statistically significantly higher in the CP group compared to the CS group (p<0.001). Although serum, DOS TNF-α and DOS IL-6 values were higher in the CP group compared to the SP group, no statistically significant difference was detected, but serum IL-6 values were found to be statistically significantly higher (p<0.001).
