Security which is one of the most controversial and one of the most derived concepts of International Relations literature, is in fact a reflexive concept which depends on actor, process and structure. Although it is dependent on the moment and the circumstances, security is dependent on historical flow; and is interactive and constructive with one another. A relatively less studied area of study is historicity of security. Yet the security paradigm carries traces of both the social conjuncture, the teachings, experiences, practices of the past and political, social and economic contexts together with traces of dominant actors. Taking security as a concept, there is a history to search for in the past and there are remains and reflections today. The main starting point of this study is to focus on historicity of the concept of security, to follow the traces of changes and transformations of actor, event and phenomena related to security with a genealogically approach in the history of international relations. While it has been examined how security has changed and transformed in its historical course with the dimensions of actor, system and period in the study, the parameters of transition periods have been discussed with new medievalism, heritages, repetitions and breaks between past and present have been tried to put forward.
