Abstract (EN)

Bending tests of the Concrete-Filled Steel Tube (CFST) beams with artificial notches has been conducted in this thesis in order to study the effects of the material imperfections which is direct reduce the performances of steel tubes on beam. This thesis presents the results of an experimental study of bending behaviors of CFST beams with notches. The square shape of steel tube with two different thickness has been studied the design limitation; Thicknesses (2mm, 5mm) a total of 26-specimens which is consist of 24-with include notch CFST beams, whilst two tube control without notch. The flexural performance of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) filled steel tube beams are examined, the CFST with notches from the top to bottom and sidewall with two different thicknesses and two different lengths of the notch (long and short). The moment carrying capacities, ductility, failure modes, moment - mid-span deflection relations and bending moment capacities. Eventually, the results were illustrated that the notched CFST specimens had lower mechanical performances than the CFST beam specimens without notch. Furthermore, the investigating The performance of the beams decreases as the length of the notch increases for both the thicknesses (2mm,5mm).
