Abstract (EN)
This thesis explores the design and community engagement of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) projects, focusing on disaster and humanitarian management point of view, in the Syrian context. The study utilizes qualitative analysis, gathering insights from humanitarian workers involved in CVA projects through interviews and surveys. The findings reveal key themes related to project design and community engagement, shedding light on the factors influencing project design, the level of community participation, and the challenges faced in achieving effective community engagement. Additionally, the study examines the significance of market considerations in project design and the integration of market-based approaches. The findings highlight the importance of incorporating beneficiary feedback, stakeholder engagement, and market dynamics in designing impactful CVA interventions. They also underscore the complexities of operating within the Syrian context, including donor requirements and logistical limitations, which present barriers to achieving full community participation. The study concludes by calling for further exploration and innovative solutions to overcome these challenges and ensure that localization principles are effectively applied in the design and implementation of CVA projects. By adopting a comprehensive approach that considers beneficiary preferences, community input, and market dynamics, CVA interventions can be designed to meet the needs of beneficiaries better and promote local economic resilience.
