Examination of depression, anxiety, stress and burnout levels in healthcare professionals in the COVID-19 pandemic: The case of Osmaniye State Hospital

Our research was carried out to determine the mental effects of health workers, who are the occupational group most affected by the pandemic, and to compare them with related factors. 417 healthcare professionals working in Osmaniye State Hospital participated in the research. In order to collect the data in the study, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS 21), the Burnout Scale Short Form (TO-SF) and the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher were sent to the participants between February 12 and March 12, 2021. Student t test, one-way ANOVA, mann whitney u and Kruskal Wallis and TukeyHSD tests were used to determine the research findings. In this study, a strong positive relationship was found between the levels of depression, anxiety, stress and burnout in healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, it was found that depression, anxiety, stress and burnout symptom levels in healthcare workers in the COVID-19 pandemic did not differ according to age, working time in the profession, professional title in the field of pandemic, and education related to the pandemic. In this study, depression, anxiety, stress and burnout symptom levels in healthcare workers in the COVID-19 pandemic were determined in women, in those who were separated from their families in the COVID-19 pandemic, in those who were infected during the COVID-19 period, in those who did not find the wage they received during the COVID-19 period sufficient, and in the pre-COVID-19 pandemic psychiatric / was found to be significantly higher in those receiving psychological help. According to the results, depressive symptoms of 228 (54.7%) participants were moderate or higher, anxiety symptoms of 200 (48%) participants were moderate or higher, and stress symptoms of 144 (33.5%) participants were moderate or higher. In the study, burnout symptoms of 213 (51.1%) participants were found to be in burnout and need help.
