Abstract (EN)

Coronavirus, which emerged in Wuhan city of China's Hubei province in late December 2019 and spread rapidly around the world, was declared as Covid-19 pandemic by WHO in March 2020. The first cases in Turkey started to be seen in mid-March 2020. In the past, humanity has struggled with many pandemic diseases and states have faced various economic losses. In this study, the history and dimensions of pandemic diseases in the past, the general situation of the global and Turkish economy before and after the Covid-19 pandemic, the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sectors and the economic policies implemented, the economic losses resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to the support provided by states to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; In the study, the effects of the pandemic on macroeconomic variables (budget balance, foreign trade, labor market, economic growth, financial sector and inflation) were compared with selected country examples. Descriptive statistics method was used in the study. It is thought that it will make unique contributions to research and literature in terms of determining the factors that may affect the success of countries and obtaining guiding results in subsequent possible pandemics.
