ABSTRACT MSc THESIS A RESEARCH ON THE EFFECT OF DIFFER PLANTING DATE AND POTASSIUM FERTILIZATION TREATMENTS ON YIELD AND FIBER TECHNOLOICAL PROPERTIES OF COTTON (Gassypium hinutum L.) Dr. Ibrahim Ortaş This study was conducted in 2000 to determine the effects of planting times (10, 17, and 24 May) and potassium treatments (0 and 15 kg/da) on the yield and fiber quality properties of cotton {Gossypium hirsutum L.). Seed cotton yield was found to be significantly high at the planting times of 10 and 17 May than mat of 24 May planting. Potassium treatment produced an enhancement by 6.5 % in seed cotton yield compared to untreated check. There were an increase in the days to bool opening (earliness ratio) with delaying the planting times, while potassium treatments had no effect on this trait Planting times were found to be insignificant on lint %, potassium treatments resulted in increase in lint % and lint yield. The highest lint % was obtained from the planting of 17 May and 0 kg potassium treatment Planting time and potassium applications had no any effect on fiber properties.
