CULTIVARS GROWN in DRYLAND and HIGHLANDCONDITIONS of CUKUROVA REGIONMuzaffer KIRPIKDEPARTMENT of FIELD CROPSINSTITUTE of NATURAL and APPLIED SCIENCESUNIVERSITY of ÇUKUROVASupervisor :Prof. Dr. Menşure ÖZGÜVENYear-Pages :2005-97Jury Prof. Dr. Menşure ÖZGÜVENProf. Dr. Halis ARIOĞLUProf. Dr. Saliha KIRICIProf. Dr. Atilla GÜRAssist Prof. Dr. Abdulhabip ÖZELThis study was conducted in 2003 and 2004 at the Faculty of Agricultural Experimentalareas, University of Çukurova, to determine the yield and quality of rosemary (Rosmarinusofficinalis L.) varieties grown under dryland and highland conditions of Çukurova region.Field experiments were designed as randomised block designs with three replications at twodifferent locations. 15 different genotypes were grown in 40x40 cm row spacings.In study yield and related components, plant height, number of branches, fresh herbageyield, dry herba yield, dry leaf yield, dry leaf ratio, dry matter ratio, volatile oil ratio, volatileoil compositions and volatile oil yield, responses to different growing conditions wereevaluated. It was especially found that the highest values due to irrigation were obtained fromhighland conditions than dryland conditions. It must be indicated that data obtained fromdryland conditions seemed also satisfied.Key Words: Rosemary, Fresh, Dry, Herbage, Leaf
