Reflection of the education and language policy from republic to present in the Turkish education

In Turkey, the determination of the education and language policies from Republic to today and examining the reflection of these policies on the Turkish education system and the limitations of the studies on this issue were considered important. The objection of this study is to determine the these policies implemented in the country and assess the reflection on the Turkish education. To identify language and education policies which were applied from 1923 to 2012, government programs, the National Education Council, the development plans the progress report of the European Union and the relevant literature were used. First, the desired target human profile was identified. Later, Turkish Ministry of National Education curriculum and textbooks were examined which were applied from Republic to the present day in order to determine whether Turkish education has been reached this goal or not. Due to the aspect of scanning model, this study is a descriptive research study. Therefore data was obtained by scanning documents. In Turkey, in the last 10 years (2004-2014) to understand what extent is reflected of the changes in the language and education policies in Turkish training has benefited from the views of the Turkish teachers. For this purpose, in the Giresun city centre 15 secondary school Turkish teachers who have at least 10 years of seniority were interviewed. The research data were collected using a semi-structured interview technique which is one of the qualitative data collection techniques. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. As a result of the examination and evaluation of the curriculum of Turkish and Turkish textbooks, education and language policy was concluded appropriate to targeted human profile.
