Prof. Dr. Seren AKAVCI In this study, determining place and the functions existing consulting institutions in construction sector in our country, it has been intended to evaluate these institutions in accordance with modern norms, and to improve suggestions about the things to be done from this point of view, It was thought to be to apply for the information and opinions of our existing engineering and consulting institutions, and an inquiry has been conducted. It was known that construction sector has various and important problems in this country. Suggestions made about the solutions for these problems, especially in the past few years, it was spoken about consulting institutions. But it is necessary for engineering and consulting institutions to reach a specific level from the point of human resources, organization structure and management understanding to undertake the function similar to those of in developed countries in building production. In our country to be able to do these things for these institutions, authorization and responsibility should be clarified in consultant-client-contractror triangle, quality based selection method should be used while doing selection, and professional responibility insurance should be spread.
