Abstract (EN)

In this study, some of the chemical and physical parameters in water samples were measured taken from four stations on Demiryazı Pond, which is located within the borders of Demiryazı village of Sivas province, between January 2019 and December 2019. These stations were located in the southwest side, northwest side and northeast side of Demiryazı pond. Throughout the study, samples were taken monthly from the sampling stations and the values (general mean, standard deviation, and seasonal mean) obtained during 12 months were examined. The samples taken from all four sampling stations were examined 28 physico-chemical parameters in terms of dissolved oxygen (mg/L), salinity (‰), pH, temperature (°C), electrical conductivity (µS/cm), suspended solid matters (mg/L), chemical oxygen demand (mg/L), biological oxygen demand (mg/L), chloride (mg/L), phosphate (mg/L), sulphate (mg/L), sulphite (mg/L), sodium (mg/L), potassium (mg/L), total hardness (mg/L), total alkalinity (mg/L), magnesium (mg/L), calcium (mg/L), nitrite (mg/L), nitrate (mg/L), ammonium salt (mg/L), ferrous (mg/L), lead (µg/L), copper (µg/L), cadmium (µg/L), mercury (µg/L), nickel (µg/L), and zinc (µg/L). The annual mean values of the parameters were statistically compared between the seasons, and it was determined that Demiryazı Pond has Class IV. water quality level according to the Surface Water Quality Management Regulation (SWQMR). According to the SWQMR criteria, it can be seen that there is no remarkable pollution problem in the pond.
