Abstract (EN)
In this studu we wanted to demonstrate the preventive effect of Valproic acid on vasospasm caused by experimental subarachnoid hemorrhage. To perform subarachnoid hemorrhage we punctored the cisterna magna of 24 New Zelland rabbits and infused autolog arterial blood in cisterna magna. As we assessed the luminal areas of basillary arteries we demonstrated that the largest area was seen in control group, and the minimum area was seen in SAH group. The area of SAH+VPA group was between control and SAH group. The differences were significant. As a result of these findings we concluded that Valproic acid prevents vasospasm in experimental subarachnoid hemorrhage.
