Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine the levels and prevalence of AFM1, which is an important carcinogenic and teratogenic metabolite, in raw milk samples obtained from 3 farms supplying milk to 2 milk cooperatives in the regions of Aydin and Denizli. Milk samples (a total of 81) were collected from these farms during the summer and autum seasons, then brought to the ADU Veterinary Faculty Department of Food Hygiene and Technology Department Laborator in cold boxes. The level of AFM1 was deteremined by using ELISA method and thee results were given as ng/L level. In addition, TVC (Total Viable Count) and, the yeast and Mould levels of milk samples were determined. The results showed that all samples investigated was found to be contaminated by AFM1 and 20 of which had higher AFM1 levels than those stated at regulations. This situation was highlightened as a possible health hazard. The microbiolagical load of milk samples were also found insufficient which may caused by the poor hygenic conditions in the farm and milking premises, and mastitis.
