Turkish zoology (animal science) terms in the Compilation Dictionary

Abstract (EN)

Since the earliest times, Turks have always lived together with animals in both nomadic (equestrian) and settled life. Moreover, they have formed a wide vocabulary about all kinds of animals living on land, in the air and in the sea and the subjects related to these animals. The strongest reflections of this vocabulary in the language are also reflected in the dialects. Today, Turkey Turkish dialects have a richer and more detailed vocabulary about animals if it is compare to the standard language (written language, Istanbul Turkish). In addition to this, there is also a lot of vocabulary data in the corpus called Derleme Sözlüğü which is published by the Turkish Language Association as a comprehensive dictionary of Turkey Turkish dialects. It has great importance that this vocabulary data is completely determined and detailly examined, in revealing some unique features of the Turkish language that have been preserved and kept alive in all aspects from the past to the present. In this study, which was prepared as a master's the is animals in the vocabulary of Turkey Turkish dialects and the materials related to zoology that directly examine them were scanned based on the compilation dictionary has a very important place in terms of Turkish language and cultural history and the materials obtained from the study was examined in the terms of philology. In the third part of which forms basis of the study prepared in 4 parts, the words determined in the axix of compilation dictionary are classification 16 main part and subbranches of them are revealed. The words listed alphabetically under the chapter headings have been classified in terms of structure and also they discussed and evaluated in terms of etymology. Since there fore in the ligth of all the information above the place and importance of animals and zoology in the life of Anatolian people was tried to be determined.
