Abstract (EN)

This study aims to identify the influence of teaching the ?Epic Era Turkish Literature? unit in the ?Turkish Literature? course at tenth grade with motion pictures on the academic success of students.Case study pattern is used in accordance with qualitative research method. Percentage, frequency and arithmetic mean methods are used in the analysis of data, while SPSS 14. 0 T test is used in the analysis of significance. The research is performed in the tenth class Turkish Literature course of Karadeniz Eregli Anatolian High School in the Karadeniz Eregli (Heraclia) district in Zonguldak province. Two random classes are selected from science branches one being the experimental group (N=15) and other the control group (N=15).The experimental group watched the movie selected and shortened in relation to the Iliad during Turkish Literature course while the control group followed traditional teaching methods (plain lecturing). Both group students answered questions pertaining to the literature curriculum achievements at the end of the course. The same questions are asked one more time to both groups after a month to test the memorability of given information. Content analysis of answers are performed on by generating codes according to pre-established analysis units within the scope of word, character, sentence units.According to the results of the study, the academic success grade of the experimental group in first and second practices is higher than that of the control group. It is found that; teaching by motion pictures contributes to academic success, memorability of knowledge and stimulation of vocabulary.
