Development of new methods for prioritization and evaluation of investment projects in the context of technology management

Technology management has considerable effects on new investment decisions. The aim of this dissertation is to develop new methods to prioritize and evaluate investment projects in the context of technology management. Therefore, we propose five new methods for that aim. The first method addresses the technology commercialization potential of an investment project and uses the fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (Fuzzy DEMATEL), the fuzzy Analytic Network Process (Fuzzy ANP) and Beta distribution. The second method proposes a framework for measuring the innovation capability potential of an investment project by using the Belief in Fuzzy Probability Estimations of Time (BIFPET) algorithm. The third method focuses on the association between invested technology and other technologies and the likelihood of decreasing the level of the foreign trade deficit in a country. It uses patent analysis and the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method. The fourth method examines the effect of possible technology clusters in invested technology by using data mining. Finally, the fifth method proposes a technology forecasting method based on patent data. To show the usefulness of the proposed methods, different case studies are conducted.
