State conservatoires department of music primary and high school string instruments program students position of using of memorization / playing from memorizaton in the playing of instruments (Hacettepe University sample)

This study is examined the place in the education of state conservatoire, importance,emphasis of necessity, and also definition of the methods of memorization which areused in conservatoire and bringing solutions to the problems of the playing frommemory which has an important place in the education of string instruments.In order to achieve this goal, the method of gathering information by the way ofinterviewing with 64 students who are studying and 14 instructors who are givinglectures in Hacettepe University State Conservatoire String Instruments Program wasused. Instructors? and students? points of views and suggestions are observed aboutthe use of memorization, the ways that are used to perform memorization and howmemorization is affecting the performance. By the way of these observations it wasfound that most of the students and instructors agreed the necessity and importanceof the playing from memory, but they haven?t taken any education about this subject.Moreover, it was observed that the students were not producing any solutions to theproblems which stayed face to face during the playing from memory.As a result of the literature surveys and interviews the study showed that first of allthe instructors ad then the students must be educated to help more effective educationivby playing from memory which has an percentage in the examinations ofconservatoire and an important place in the education of string instruments.Key words: Music Education, String Instruments, Memorization
