Abstract (EN)

After the Bauhaus School of Art and Design, founded in 1919 in Weimar, Germany, was closed by Hitler in 1933, the understanding of education continued in various countries around the world. The graphics department of the State School of Applied Fine Arts, which started its education in 1957 in Turkey under the leadership of German instructors, is affiliated to Marmara University in 1982 with the law on Higher Education and provides education with its new structure as the Faculty of Fine Arts. From 1957 until 1982, when it was incorporated into Marmara University, it gave thousands of graduates in 5 departments in total as Interior Architecture, decorative painting, textiles, ceramics and graphics. For the first time in Turkey, the graphics department of the State School of Applied Fine Arts (DTGSYO) has been a school that combines art and craft with an understanding of community benefit in meeting the needs of the industry. In our study, the school, which we will briefly call TATBİKİ (the applied), trained many valuable graduates in 5 departments, as well as graphic designers and illustrators who were present in the Press, Publication, art and cultural life of Turkey, especially in the Graphic Arts Department under its then name. In this study, the educational principles of TATBİKİ (the applied) and especially the basic art education and illustration courses first applied in Turkey were discussed, the characteristics of the work of artists who graduated from the Department of graphic arts in the period close to the closure of the exercise in 1982 and who stood out with their work over time and their contribution to graphic art were examined.
