Bitlis in Dideban newspaper (1957-1961)

Being one of mass communication means, newspapers emerged to collect, arrange and provide information deemed news materials. Fulfilling their duties in this respect, newspapers transfer information on incidents occurring in the world to vast masses and thus perform a very essential function for the sake of informing public. Local newspapers provide contribution to informing, entertaining, training, guiding public and thus creation of free public opinion. In this study events/developments in 1957-1961 in press in Bitlis are studied base on Dideban Newspaper. Events predominantly occurring in that period are political, economic, social, cultural, health, educational and land improvement issues.
