The effect of digital storytelling method on elementary school students 'academic successes, scientific process skills, and attitudes towards the course in the context of science course

This study aims to investigate the effect of digital storytelling method on elementary school students' academic successes, scientific process skills, and attitudes towards the course in the context of science course. The sample consists of 60 students from 6. class of a state schoool at Alanya, Antalya. 30 of the sample is the control group and the other 30 is the experimental group. In the study, these data collection tools are used: Our World, Moon and The Source of Our Life: Sun Success Test, Scientific Process Skill Test which consists of 36 multiple choice questions and The scale of attitude towards the science course which measures the attitudes of the students. Moreover, a semi-structured interview is performed with the experimental group. While the digital storytellings are evaluated, The Questions of Science Education Feedback with Digital Storytelling 1-2 forms are used. In this study, quasiexperimental pretest-posttest control group design was used. In the quantitative analysis, SPSS is used as the analytical tool, one-way ANCOVA used as methods. In the qualitative analysis, descriptive analysis is used. The results of the study implies that digital storytelling has a positive effect on the academic success of the elementary schoool students at science course. Additionally, it has a positive effect on scientific process skills and positive attitudes towards the science course. Also, it is found that students have developed positive opinions about the science course and the digital storytelling method according to the descriptive statistics results.
