The mediating role of resilience capabilities in the effect of digital technologies on supply chain resilience: A research on Türkiye's top 500 industrial enterprises (ISO 500)

The globalisation of supply chains, the crossing of borders between countries and the increasing exposure of supply chains to risk have made supply chains more vulnerable to disruption and more fragile. The COVID-19 pandemic in recent years is an example of this. The pandemic has caused serious disruptions in supply chains and tested the resilience of supply chains. This situation has led companies to look for technological solutions to increase supply chain resilience in order to cope with the disruptions. The aim of this thesis is to examine the impact of digital technologies on supply chain resilience and to determine the mediating role of resilience capabilities in this effect. To this purpose, in the first phase of the study, four key technologies that enable the digitalisation of supply chains and five main resilience capabilities that enable the supply chain to cope with disruptions were identified based on the literature. In the second stage, 'The Mediating Effect Model of Resilience Capabilities on the Impact of Digital Technologies on Supply Chain Resilience' was developed, which includes the relationships between digital technologies, supply chain resilience capabilities and supply chain resilience.In the third stage, in order to test the proposed model, data was collected from the supply chain managers and specialists of Turkiye's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises (ISO 500) through a survey form. In the fourth and final stage, the data collected from 151 companies participating in the study were analyzed using structural equation modeling to identify the relationships in the proposed model. The analysis revealed that digital technologies have a significant effect on supply chain resilience, and supply chain resilience capabilities mediate this effect. The results of the study support the proposed 'The Mediating Effect Model of Resilience Capabilities on the Impact of Digital Technologies on Supply Chain Resilience'. The findings of the study are believed to guide researchers to analyse the supply chain resilience potential of digital technologies, and supply chain managers to take the right digital investment decisions.
