Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study was to evaluate the relationship between religious attitudes and breastfeeding attitudes and the effect of this relationship on breastfeeding. The population of the study consisted of mothers with babies aged 0-24 months (N = 460). Sample selection was made from these mothers using simple random sampling method (n=203). The research was conducted in a family health center where 5 family physicians, 4 nurses and midwives worked. The data of the study was collected by graduate student Cuma Tunçkaşık by communicating face-to-face with mothers in this family health center. Data collection took approximately 15 minutes. Before data collection began, mothers were informed about the research and asked whether they would be willing to participate in the study. In statistical analysis, the suitability of the data to normal distribution was evaluated with the Kolmogorov Smirnov test. In the evaluation of the data obtained in the study, in addition to descriptive statistics (percentage, frequency, average, standard deviation, minimum, maximum), t test was used to compare two independent variables, and ANOVA test was used to compare more than two variables. The relationship between the two scales was evaluated with the person correlation coefficient. When we look at the distribution of data on breastfeeding and feeding the baby, we see that 82.8% of the babies were breastfed immediately after birth, 51.7% of their mothers had breastfeeding experience, 59.1% of their mothers thought of breastfeeding their babies only for the first 6 months, 57.6% of them were breastfed only. It was determined that 82.3% of the babies were fed with colostrum and 46.8% were breastfed as soon as they were born. It was determined that there was a statistically positive, moderately significant relationship between mothers' attitudes towards EMS and EMS attitude. As a result, it was determined that breastfeeding attitude was not at the desired level and there was a relationship between religious attitude and breastfeeding attitude.
