Abstract (EN)
In this study, different opinions about the definition of religion in the history of religions are investigated. In this context, firstly the origin and etymological meaning of the concept religion are mentioned. The difficulty of defining the concept religion, the necessary components in the definition of religion, the classification of religions, the source of religion and specters of religion in the historical process are also discussed. Afterwards the matter of the classification of the definitions is mentioned and definitions are classified such as fenomenological, historical, antropolojical, critical, substantive, functional and other definitions. Finally, characteristic problems in the definitions of religions are touched within the direction of criticisms for the definitions of religion and the suggestions about the definition of religion are discussed. Thus, the study has been completed.
