The opinions of the High Committee of Religious Affairs (The Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey) and their Islamic-legal foundations

This thesis aims to carry out an investigation of the opinions were taken by The High Committee of Religious Affairs after 1965 in terms of their Islamic-legal foundations. In order to realize this purpose, the thesis consists of an introduction and three main sections. The content, aim and method of the study have been given in the introduction. The first chapter, in general, deals with the structure and functions of The High Committee of Religious Affairs. The second section of the thesis aims at a better understanding of the opinions of The High Committee of Religious Affairs in terms of fatwa. In the third section, the opinions of above mentioned are examined in according to the both primary and secondary evidences which are used by The High Committee in the decision making process. The decision making methods of The High Committee are evaluated in the epilogue of the study.
