Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Investigation of The Effect of Using Biodiesel Fuel with Preheating in Diesel Engine The vehicles produced to help people with transportation problems are used in land and air transportation as well as land transportation. Today, the area where motor vehicles are not used with transportation is almost absent. These tools increase human welfare and have harmful aspects to human and environment. Exhaust emissions are the most important of these harmful effects. The number of these motor vehicles that use fossil fuels is increasing day by day, making it inevitable to increase the amount of emissions they leave to the environment. In order to reduce this environmental pollution and minimize the harm to human health, this thesis has been conducted and experimental studies have been carried out to improve the emission values. Although these experiments are very diverse, the studies on reducing the exhaust emissions of the vehicles have accelerated. Along with the reduction of harmful gases resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels, the use of alternative fuels to fossil fuels has become prominent in recent years. In this thesis, three crude vegetable oils were used as fuel in diesel engines. Black mustard oil, bitter almond oil and pepper seed oils were obtained by biodiesel obtained by trensesterification method in laboratory. Exhaust emission values were recorded in a single cylinder internal combustion diesel engine mixed with 20%, 60% and 100% diesel fuel under normal conditions. Biodiesel obtained from the same plants was mixed with diesel fuel in the same proportions and preheated in the oven before being used in the engine and then used in the engine and exhaust emission values were taken again. The experiments were repeated for each mixture and ratio as well as after preheating. In the experiments, the results of ÖYT (Specific Fuel Consumption), EGS (Exhaust Gas Temperature), CO (Carbon Monoxide), CO₂ (Carbon Dioxide), HC (Hydrocarbon) and NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) emissions in the use of mixture fuels were found and the results of the mixture were applied under normal conditions. When the results of the experiment were compared, it was seen that different values were taken from different oils. At the same time, the emission effects of preheated biodiesel fuels have been found to increase, although some values have decreased by approximately 10%. When we compare the mixture results of preheated biodiesel mixtures used under normal conditions, it has increased to a certain extent.
