Abstract (EN)

Design and Analysis of Exhaust System for Decreasing Pollution Emissions in Diesel Engines Diesel vehicle engines have increased demand for diesel engines, which have high efficiency, low operating costs, high strength and good fuel consumption. However, air pollution due to the increased use of diesel motor vehicles is increasing. Therefore, it has become necessary to develop studies to reduce the emissions that cause air pollution. High efficiency is obtained when the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and the diesel particulate filter (DPF) are used together. However, the methods used for DPF regeneration are costly and increasing. Therefore, emission reduction systems such as DOC and DPF used in today's vehicles are very important in terms of detailed study and further development of these systems with high success. In this study, an exhaust system was designed for further development by examining DOC and DPF. The structure of the diesel particulate filter of this designed exhaust system has been specifically investigated in the scope of this study. Firstly, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and emission values of hexafluoroethylene, hexafluoroethylene and square channel types of DPF coated with aluminum titanate, silicon carbide and cordierite materials coated with square cell channel and coated with aluminum titanate have been examined in detail. Numerical analyzes of DPF material and shape parameters were carried out in the AVL FIRE program. Obtained results; It has been observed that the temperature, pressure, etc. of different DPF materials and different geometric channels have changed significantly. Changes in these values have also changed the rates of particulate matter, ash accumulation, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. The emission values of DPF covered with silicon carbide material were found to be quite good compared to other materials. Furthermore, when the emission and flow values of the DPF of different shapes are examined, it is observed that the accumulation and emission values in the hexahex-shaped DPF are less.
