Abstract (EN)

The fact that the use of natural gas is increasing day by day throughout the country undoubtedly brings with it the necessity of carrying out the necessary infrastructure works in order to deliver natural gas to both residential and industrial establishments. Pressure reducing stations are needed in order to build natural gas distribution lines in the city and to reduce the pressure of the gas coming from the high pressure transmission lines and to offer them to the use of residential and industrial establishments. For this reason, it is necessary to plan the urban distribution lines during the construction of the main transmission lines. Pressure reducing and metering stations constitute the most important part of the systems established for the distribution of natural gas. The main purpose of these stations is to supply the gas at the pressure and temperature values demanded by natural gas users, to determine the amount of gas passing through the station and to measure it. At the same time, it is aimed to purify the gas from solid particles and liquids by filtration of natural gas at these stations. Since our country is dependent on foreign sources in terms of energy resources; In order to ensure energy supply security, energy efficiency is very important in all stages of energy from production to consumption. In this study, the methods that can be applied to provide energy efficiency in pressure reduction and measurement stations, which form the basis of natural gas distribution systems, were investigated. The electricity generation potential that can be obtained by using an expansion turbine instead of a throttling valve for the pressure reduction process has been examined. For this purpose, electricity generation potential was examined and economic analysis was made based on one year data of 2 different A-type pressure reduction and measurement stations belonging to a city in Anatolia.
