Abstract (EN)
In order to design efficient rotary engine, it is necessary to have a good understanding of how engine design and operating parameters affect the engine performance. Due to complex designing process of Wankel rotary engine, it is expensive to experimentally study the effect of using different designed models on engine efficiency. Accurately designed computational analyses can reduce both the time and cost of producing the models by cutting the extra experimental tests. Since the physics that taking place inside the Wankel engine chambers are complex, a simulation, which could solve the numerical models, is the necessity of this study. The main purpose of this computational study is to investigate the optimum design for the Wankel type rotary engine considering the fluid flow analysis inside it during the intake and compression cycles. Computer programs developed for simulating the real conditions with the variety of adjustable and controllable values could be the good choice for this aim. For the aim of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study, well-known ANSYS FLUENT software was used to model the rotary engine, which was designed in Solid works. FLUENT could simulate the flow field inside the combustion chamber of Wankel engine as a function of engine design and operating parameters.
