Control system desi̇gn for retarded ti̇me delay systems

With the technological developments, the necessity of obtaining mathematical models similar real systems occurred. This necessity also result in the rise of studies on delay systems. Delay systems have infinite roots. So it is not possible to get mathematical models of these systems exactly. Mathematical models are obtained by some approaches. These approaches are explained in detail in the thesis. The aim of this thesis is to design more simple and robust controllers than the existing ones in literature for the retarded systems. Lately, many studies reported for retarded systems. But most of these studies is related with stability analysis or mathematical modeling. Only a few studies have reported about control system design for retarded systems in the literature. Some of these are Kubo's works in which LQR method is used and Xia's work in which sliding mode control method is utilized. The methods of these works use modern control methods that are complicated and hard to understand. Furthermore, the controllers designing with these methods are high order. For this reason, the Coefficient Diagram Method which is more simple and easy to understand will be use for controlling retarded systems. The Coefficient Diagram Method is developed using some past control experiences by Shunji Manabe. Easy design procedure, to allow designing simple and robust controllers are the most important advantages of this method. In this thesis, time delay systems are researched firstly. Then, the Coefficient Diagram Method's properties are investigated and practiced to retarded systems.
