Investigation of the effects of low level laser therapy (LLLT) on bone healing following tooth extraction

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Helium-Neon (He-Ne) and Gallium-Aluminum-Arsenide (GaAlAs) lasers used in low level laser therapy on bone healing following tooth extraction. For that purpose 30 female albino Wistar rats were used. Maxillary right incisor tooth of all subjects was extracted. A control group and four groups that lasers He-Ne and GaAlAs applied with energy doses 6 J/cm2 and 10 J/cm2 were settled. Laser group rats were treated with He-Ne and GaAlAs lasers in two energy levels for 7 days following tooth extraxtion. At the end of 30 days after tooth extraction all subjects were sacrificed so as to observe bone healing histological, immunohistochemical and radiological. In consequence of these assesments, more organized and compact looking bone tissue formation was observed in GaAlAs laser treatment with energy dose of 10 J/cm2. The results demonstrated that the low level laser therapy is efficient application in bone healing.
