Abstract (EN)
This thesis examines the processing of personal data on e-commerce platforms, addressing its legal, ethical, and technical aspects. With the rapid advancement of digitalization, e-commerce websites have gained extensive authority in collecting, processing, and storing user data, making personal data protection a crucial issue. The study analyzes the obligations of e-commerce platforms under regulations such as the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union. Additionally, case studies are used to explore how user data is processed, stored, and shared with third parties. The main objective of this thesis is to assess the adequacy of data security policies in the e-commerce sector and provide recommendations for more effective protection of users' personal data. As a result, it emphasizes the need to enhance regulatory compliance, strengthen transparency, and increase user awareness.
