Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of demographic variables that affect parents' awareness of family violence, negative childhood experiences and parental acceptance rejection levels on violence awareness. For this purpose, data were collected from 466 parents, who constitute the sample of the study, by means of demographic information form, Domestic Violence Awareness Scale, Adverse Childhood Experiences Scale and Adult Parent Acceptance Rejection Scale. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, multivariate regression, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, t-test analysis and one way Anova techniques were used. As a result of the research, it was concluded that as the number of negative childhood experiences of parents and father rejection levels increased, a significant decrease was observed in violence awareness levels. As a result of the regression analysis, it was determined that while the gender variable preticted the awareness of domestic violence, our independent variables, which were negative childhood experiences, mother acceptance-rejection level, and father acceptance-rejection level, did not pretict domestic violence awareness. On the other hand, while variables such as gender, age, education level of the parents, education level of the parents and the type of marriage significantly affect the level of awareness of domestic violence, the status of parents living with their children, whether they work in a job, whether they have a psychological problem, marital status and income status variables did not significantly affect the awareness of domestic violence.
